CHARLOTTE BILTGEN

ICHI
"When design meets haute couture"
On the occasion of French Art Design, Charlotte Biltgen unveils the Ichi armchair, the first piece of the Samuraï project, designed in collaboration with Collection Latil and enhanced by Atelier Montex, an expert in exceptional embroidery.
Charlotte Biltgen imagined a suspended moment: beneath a ginkgo tree in Japan, a breath of wind stirs a swirl of leaves that gracefully rest on the bark of the armchair. This poetic moment comes to life through a play of plant textures, where delicately embroidered leather captures the lightness of free-falling foliage. On the armchair's outer shell, organic shapes bordering on abstraction are created using appliqués of dipped lambskin from Bodin-Joyeux. Cornely embroidery, executed by hand with rayon and metallic thread, enlivens these contours with a subtle shine in shades of green. An upholstery technique then adds volume and sensory depth to these motifs. The interior of the armchair, upholstered in moss green Vladimiro velvet from Dedar, envelops the seat in precious softness, inspiring both the intimacy of a smoking room and the elegance of a couture salon.
Within the refined setting of the Ichi armchair, artisanal expertise converses with the rigor of design. This piece enhances the encounter between masculine and feminine, embroidery becomes sculpture, and design becomes haute couture.
